The good
- It's Mojang's: you subscribe from inside the game and there's nothing to set up.
- It never breaks when Minecraft updates, because the update is theirs.
- It keeps three worlds and your friends can join even when you're offline.
The catches
- No plugins or mods. No Paper, no Forge, no Fabric.
- A cap of 10 players at once, and paying more doesn't raise it.
- It isn't sold by RAM, so if it falls short there's no way to give it more.
Verdict
If all you want is to play with four friends without any hassle, it's the simplest option there is and I have no complaints. The moment you want a plugin, a mod or fifteen people, you'll have to move.
Is it the best for you?
It depends on how much RAM you need, and that changes the winner completely. Tell me how many of you there are and what you've installed, and I'll tell you in 20 seconds, with Minecraft Realms compared side by side with the rest.
