How I check every price

Without this, a comparison is just a list of numbers someone made up. So here's the whole method, limits included.

Where each price comes from

From the host's own site, opened by hand, no scrapers. I record the recurring price: what you'll pay in month two and three, not the window display. If they have an entry discount, it's listed separately and named, because half the industry passes the discounted price off as the rate.

How I compare like with like

• Price per gigabyte. The "price per kilo" of hosting: the plan's price divided by the gigabytes you get. It's the only way to compare fixed plans with per-gigabyte pricing.
• If the plan gives you more, it counts what you get. Ask for 8 GB and their smallest plan is 16? The maths uses 16: punishing them for giving you more would be lying the other way.
• Dollars are converted to euros at the rate on the day I check, and that rate is printed in the tables.
• Hosts that sell slots without publishing RAM (Realms) have no price per gigabyte: they're listed separately and it's said.

What I look at besides price

The CPU they publish, whether the disk is NVMe, how many backups are included, whether there's a contract, whether the panel installs modpacks in one click, and where their machines are. All of it is in each review, downsides included.

What I don't do

• I don't invent data. If a host doesn't publish its CPU, the review says so. I don't fill gaps by eye.
• I don't charge for being listed, or for a higher spot. Tables are sorted by price, and that order isn't touched.
• I don't copy anyone's rankings, least of all the ones written by the hosts themselves.

What can go wrong

Hosts change prices without warning, so what counts is always their site at the moment you buy. That's why every table carries the date of the last check. If you see a price that doesn't add up, email me and I'll fix it the same day.
